My boss told me to write about some crap for the blog post this week, and I decided to take that literally. The subject of this blog post? Elephant Poo Paper!
I’m excited to tell you more about a unique (to say the least) eco-friendly material being used in the promotional industry. While I was searching for new items to feature on Ecoswag.com, I discovered a supplier that makes paper products from Elephant Poo. This immediately put a grin on my face; I could imagine all the jokes to be made about promotional swag made from poop. To be honest, the stuff we sell sometimes has a negative connotation of being “crap” because not everyone understands how useful cheap giveaways can be to promote brand recognition at tradeshows and other events. Well, for all the cynics out there, you get the last laugh…crap is now officially being used to make some of our products!
The Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company is poo-roud to present custom promo items made from Elephant Poo Paper. Not only do they have one heck of a creative way to make paper, they also donate a portion of their profits to elephant welfare and conservation projects. Elephant Poo Paper products have been available in retail stores for some time now, but only recently have they been made available with custom imprinting to promote your brand.
After looking at the paper, it's obvious that it's made of all natural materials. Contrary to the mental image you might get when you think "elephant poo", this paper's natural, eco-friendly look is appealing and will enhance any logo printed on it.
That being said, I was still curious how such an unlikely source for paper pulp was turned into the impressive material I was looking at. Even though I was sure there had to be some sort of sanitation process, I was still a little leery about Elephant Poo products at first glance. So I did a little research into the process for treating the Elephant Poo and transforming it into a sustainable and biodegradable material.
Naturally dried elephant dung is collected from elephant conservation parks and brought to a paper-making factory. It is then pre-rinsed with water, leaving only the fibrous materials from the grasses, bamboo and fruits the elephants have eaten. The fibers are placed into a giant pot of boiling water to thoroughly clean and sanitize them. Colors can be added to the mixture to make it look less poo-like, and natural fibers from banana trees are added to make the paper thicker and stronger. Once mixed, the fibers are flattened and dried to create sheets of Elephant Poo Paper.
Ecoswag.com currently offers the Elephant Poo Paper Jotter Pad, and I will be adding the other Elephant Poo items to the site soon. The jotter is made with 100% recycled and odorless paper. It is, dare I say, quite lovely considering it was made from poop. The other items are larger-size notebooks, more details and pricing on request. Feel free to give me a call (877-432-6192) or send me an email if you are interested in Elephant Poo products with your custom logo, or have any questions.
Thanks for reading and please help spread the word about our green & unique promotional products!
